only the location changes.
Swedish/Relaxation
Massage
Swedish massage is used to promote a sense of well-being by relaxing the muscles
relieving pain, promoting circulation, and restoring balance in the body. Long,
gentle strokes ease away tension and stress leaving you feeling like yourself
again. Pressure may be adjusted to fit your specific needs.
Deep Tissue
Massage
Deep tissue massage utilizes techniques that focus on the deeper layers of muscle
tissue. This corrective and therapeutic massage is used to relieve chronic muscle
tension focusing more on specific areas using deeper pressure on such contracted
areas. Deep Tissue massage assists injury rehabilitation, helps break up and
eliminate scar tissue and reduces inflammation related pain. This modality uses
slower strokes applied with a deeper direct pressure which can be intense and
is generally integrated with other techniques.
Neuromuscular
Therapy
NeuroMuscular Therapy (NMT) is a comprehensive system of soft-tissue manipulation
techniques that balance the central nervous system with the structure and form
of the musculoskeletal system. NMT also enhances the function of joints, muscles,
and the biomechanics of the body, and speeds healing by facilitating the release
of the body’s natural pain killers, endorphins.
Patients
who suffer from acute to chronic pain resulting from occupational, sports and/or
automobile injuries, benefit from receiving NMT. Specific types of dysfunctions
and repetitive motion and accumulative traumas also respond well to this treatment,
including sciatica, rotator cuff dysfunction, carpal tunnel and thoracic outlet
syndrome, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, and migraines.
Hot Stone
Massage
This massage can be customized to your needs. Our massage professionals can
use broad, flowing movements with smooth, basalt stones to relax your body or
utilize the same stones to warm muscles prior to a deeper tissue massage. The
soft weight and warmth of the stones promotes deep relaxation, increased circulation,
and can relieve muscular tension and stiffness. Cool stones may also be utilized
as a stimulating contrast and to reduce inflammation.
Lymphatic
Massage
The lymphatic system is one of the most important systems of the human body
and often the most neglected. The lymph system nourishes the body by transporting
various nutrients, hormones, proteins and fats throughout the body. Most of
the body receives nourishment through the lymph system rather than by blood.
Lymph massage uses the application of slow, light, repetitive strokes to increase
the movement of lymph fluid through the system and the elimination of toxins
in the body. Lymphatic massage is most beneficial for people experiencing seasonal
colds, low energy / chronic fatigue, acne and varicose veins. Lymphatic massage
should not be performed on clients with heart conditions, cancer or acute infections
without doctors referral or on women who are currently menstruating.
Pre-Natal
Massage
Mom and baby can both enjoy a gentle and nurturing massage during your pregnancy.
Pre-natal massage promotes relaxation, while calming stress and relieving fatigue.
This massage can also ease muscular strain from the shifting of your center
of gravity, promote healthy posture, and reduce swelling, blood pressure and
varicose veins. During your session you will be comfortable and carefully supported
in the side-lying position with soft pillows.
Facial
Massage
Facial massage releases the muscles of the face and head to help bring clarity
of the mind, release emotional stress, stimulate circulation, relieve sinus
congestion, relax tense muscles, and improve muscle tone which can decrease
wrinkles and improve complexion. A facial starts with the application of warm,
moist towels to the face and neck, followed by facial oil applied with gentle
massage strokes. A natural mask and final rinse complete the session.
Ortho-Bionomy®
Ortho-Bionomy is a clothed bodywork that uses gentle movements and comfortable
positions to unlock tension, relieve pain, and increase range of motion and
flexibility. Each session is specifically designed around your individual needs.
Your practitioner will rely on verbal feedback to find the movements and positions
to facilitate your body’s release of stress and tension.
Reiki
Reiki is a simple, clothed, natural, hands-on energy healing technique that
helps in relaxing, releasing stress and maximizing the body's health potential.
Through simple hand positions, the practitioner can treat the client, thereby
accelerating the natural healing process of the body. By activating the life
force energy in the body, the client is given access to a harmonious energy
that promotes health on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
Chair Massage
In our office or yours! Chair massage is a clothed, seated massage, using a
specially designed chair. It refreshes, energizes, and relieves stress by incorporating
upper body massage techniques that focus on the back, neck, shoulders, scalp,
arms, and hands.
Healing
Touch
Healing Touch is an energy-based treatment in which a practitioner of Healing
Touch incorporates the power of intention with hands-on techniques to facilitate
self-healing in another person. During a session, the client lies on a massage
table, fully clothed, while the practitioner uses light touch on or just above
the body promoting the client’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
well-being and balance. Healing Touch can be used to help maintain general well-being
or serious health problems. Healing Touch has been proven to help reduce stress,
tension, anxiety, and pain, and assists with healing of various health conditions,
such as surgery, fractures, headaches, and neck/back problems.
A Healing Touch Clinic is held the first Monday of each month from 7-9pm. Each 45-minute session is provided by a healing-touch student, who is under the supervision of a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner or Healing Touch Practitioner Apprentice. There is no charge for these sessions. A free-will offering will be accepted to cover expenses. Call 920-749-1324 to make an appointment.
Massage Connection also has a staff member available for Healing Touch sessions by appointment on Monday evenings after 5pm.
